A Fiber Media Converter converts the optical signal to an electrical signal and vice versa. So, one Syrotech media converter converts electrical to an optical signal on one end. As an optical signal can transmit a long distance so thought OFC data transmit and on the other end again Syrotech media converter is connected to Fiber and converts the optical to an electrical signal.

GOMC-1303-20 10/100M Fiber Media Converter translates the signal from a twist pair 10/100Base-TX cable to 100Base-FX fiber optic cable, extends data transmission distance from 100m via copper cables to 20km on dual fiber optic.
